Right click on Jmol.jar, and select Open With, Javalauncher.appThen click Open again.After that, just double-click Jmol.jar to open it. macOS will remember that you gave it permisison ... until you download the next version. Then its the same routine but just once per new version.

Turns out if I try to open jmol on a mac, it refuses, saying that it is from an unidentified developer, or something. I can force it to by going to the Privacy section of Settings.
However, I have to do this *every* time I open the program. Do you have a work-around? Something I could put in settings that says this is a trusted program?_______________________________________________
