Category: Scripting Group: None Status: Closed Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Daniel Barich (barichd) Assigned to: Bob Hanson (hansonr) Summary: range selection with "-" doesn't work in v10.2 Initial Comment: I've been trying out Jmol version 10.2, and I haven't bneen able to select a range of residues with a command such as "select 1-258," but it worked just fine in v10.00. Why doesn't this work, or is it supposed to work? Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Bob Hanson (hansonr) Date: 2006-10-13 17:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1082841 ok, in the next prerelease you will be able to do two new things with select: select 3- select 3-1000000 both with work; the first is more natural, I think. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Daniel Barich (barichd) Date: 2006-10-13 16:27 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1619596 I discovered that one of the endpoints I was using did not exist, so I changed it and now it works. The catch is that Jmol v10.00 does not require the endpoints to exist, but for some reason v10.2 does. I agree that it is a bug and that the endpoints should not be required to exist. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bob Hanson (hansonr) Date: 2006-10-13 12:27 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1082841 I agree with Tim -- it's a bug. And it's now fixed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: molvisions (molvisions) Date: 2006-10-13 12:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=920824 I can confirm Rolf's explanation from my own experience; the endpoints do need to exist. this is different from Chime, which would extrapolate to the nearest endpoint if the given one does not exist. I thought I filed this as a bug, but apparently not. my bad. tim ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Rolf Huehne (rhuehne) Date: 2006-10-13 04:33 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1344570 Do both residues at the border of your range really exist? In the range '1-258' residue 1 and 258 must be present (actual coordinates, not only in the SEQRES record of a PDB file). Otherwise nothing is selected. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bob Hanson (hansonr) Date: 2006-10-12 17:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1082841 1) You should go right to 10.9.76, not 10.2. 2) Even in 10.2 I can't reproduce this problem. load 1crn.pdb select 1-30 >219 atoms selected< Is it possible that you have a bad PDB file? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=379133&aid=1576084&group_id=23629 |
