Is there anyway we can customize the menu items like home,profile,admin based on a role of the user logged in...like User should not see Admin tab.

Pavan, do you mean just hide the "Admin" link if the user doesn't have any of the following permissions:
acl.edit.jmanage.users, acl.add.jmanage.users, acl.view.jmanage.user.activity
