I ported this patch (originally for jikes 1.12) to the current CVS version of jikes. The original patch is due to Mark Richters, who posted it to jikes-dev in October 2000.

hrm. my update of this the other day seems to have been lost.

I've ported this to CVS Head and commited it.

In the future please use a unified (diff -u), or at least contextual (diff -c), diff which makes it much easier to integrate.
