changing to a directory with special characters doesn't
work.
here the log of wlfxp:

257 "/" is current directory.

CWD /§ ---- BOOKZ ---- §
550 CWD failed. '/§ ---- BOOKZ ---- §' : no such
file or directory.

it worked with another ftp client.

hmm. I dont know. perhaps you could change the locale thing
in the options menu to US-ASCII. the question is what are
    the special characters.

do you know which special characters are in there?

the special character is the (paragraph sign, on a german
keyboard over the 3 character, ASCII code integer value: 164).
you only have to look at the log i posted.
but i don't know if it is the special character. but i think
    so. ;)

    the driectory change doesn't work.
    here another example:
    CWD /#20 =--{ sTuFF
    }-=怺
    550 CWD failed. '/#20 =--{
sTuFF }-=怺' : no such file or directory.

    PWD
    257 "/" is current directory.

the first example where the cwd command didn't work, worked
at the beginning i started to use wlfxp. it was one of the
3.2-3.4 versions i think. i'm not sure. but it worked. is it
maybe a problem with the charset options you added?

the charset thing was always there, it just wasn't in the
options. Perhaps it has something to do with "LIST -aL".
It's only once in the sourcecode in the file Ftp.java. I
can't test if it works but you could change it back to
"LIST" and see if it does something.

i cannot compile wlFxp from cvs.
    i get the following errors:
    #####################################
[javac] Found 1 semantic error compiling
    "/home/phtrol/stuff/RedHat9_Appz/internet/ftp_clients/wlFxp/src/de/kout/wlFxp/view/MainMenu.java":

    [javac] 78. new
    FileExistDialog(frame, false);
    [javac] ^-------------^
    [javac] *** Semantic Error: Type
    de.kout.wlFxp.view.FileExistDialog was not found.
    #####################################

it seems, that there is no LIST -aL anymore in the file
    Ftp.java.
