The current default is to hide the Palette (i.e. minimize it on the right side). It is such an essential tool that it should be open by default.

In the SeatingMapDesigner, the palette actually is already open by default, but in all other 2D-editors, it isn't.

This issue doesn't justify further delay. I postponed it to 0.9.4.
