Hi all,

I'm writing a TokenMarker for JasperReports expressions.

The problem is this. JasperReport expressions are normal
java expressions (my TokenMarker is a modified CTokenMarker
plus JavaTokenMarker). The problem is that in JasperReports
expressions some keywords must be something like this:

$P{SOMETHING}
$V{SOMETHING}
$F{SOMETHING}

I would that all keywords (staring with $ and ending with })
are heightlighted, but brackets inside the keywords split the
token and keywords like $X{Y} are not recognized.

Please note that all possible keywords like $X{Y} are listed in
the keywords map.

Suggestions to workaround the problem?

Make sure for each JEditTextArea component that you create, you create 
a separate SyntaxDocument instance and assign that instance to the Text 
Area using the setDocument() method.  By default, the Text Area creates 
a single static instance of a SyntaxDocument and uses that if no other 
instance is explicitly defined.

First, I should say that I'm a student of Computer Science at Texas Tech 
University.  A research group here is doing a lot of work with A-Prolog, 
so I'm working on an IDE for it as a senior project.

I don't really want to make a plugin for jEdit -- one of the requests is 
that it be as light-weight as possible, and jEdit really has a lot of 
unneeded features.  Furthermore, there are some features they do want 
that jEdit doesn't seem to support, such as a tabbed interface.

So, that's why I want to work with the jEdit Syntax package.  I may try 
to port the 4.2 syntax code to the 2.3 text area, but I will have to 
decide if it's feasible.. I'm fairly new to programming in Java. ;-)

However, there is one problem I'm having that I can't figure out.  Is it 
possible to have more than one JEditTextArea at once?  It seems as 
though when I create more than one, they all share the same properties, 
and changing one changes the others.  For example, look at this:

It makes a small window with three tabs; two are JEditTextAreas, and the 
third is a JTextArea.  The behavior seems very strange to me; I have a 
laptop with OS X 10.3 and Java 1.4.1, and another with Windows XP and

have the same problem with other objects.

I have got some questions about Jedit-syntax package.

Question1:
I made a small editor that used JTextArea. I added some menus like this.

menuItem.setAccelerator(KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_N,ActionEvent.CTRL_MASK));
menu.add(menuItem);

Then I replaced my JTextArea with a JEeditTextArea and then all my menu
shortcut's stoped working. Seems somewhat like the JEeditTextArea steal
the focus becouse if I select a menu then the keyshortcut work.

Should it be like that? what can I do about it? shoule keyshortcuts be
handeld diffrently with JEditTextArea?

how do I insert text to a specific line/pos in the file?

Hello!  I'm working on developing a Java-based IDE for the A-Prolog 
language (don't worry, you've probably never heard of it), and the jEdit 
Syntax package seems as though it would work wonderfully.  I've looked 
through a lot of the documentation in the source code, but I've still 
got a few questions.

First, is there any documentation available on how to go about creating 
a token marker file for a language?  Or should I just take one of the 
pre-existing ones and editing for me needs?

Second, what's the easiest way to change what language a JEditTextArea 
object is set to highlight?  I would've thought it would have a member 
function to do that, but I don't see anything like that obviously 
labelled...
