Ther are a few ajudicators written in old VB that have
a "wizard" type interface that aids in entering
moves. This is done by listing each country and then
clicking on it, the pieces they control. Clicking on
a piece then shows the possible legal moves. Clicking
on a move then adds it to the move list. Of course
all moves can be overwritten to make illegal moves or
to change a move if a mistake has been entered. Also
there lists the legal moves of "no move" or "hold".
This is such a great tool that I use it to plan my
moves when Iplay, and also when I am trying to show
somebody why their move is illegal....
I use that tool for entering moves, then export it to
a text file and then load it into JDip. It would be
nice to have that "wizard" directly in JDip.
The drag and drop is nice, but there can be confusion
when trying to remember if a piece was already moved,
and the possibility of conflicts. An additional
solution would be to leave a "shadow" image of the
original piece location, and maybe a "ghost" arrow
showing the movement.
I am thinking about providing a way to play Diplomacy
via Treo (Palm), Pocket PC, or Cell Phone, so that the
stylis moves the pieces or the "wizard" allows the
movement, then e-mails or SMS' the orders for
ajudication.... A version of JDip that would work on
a Java enabled Cell would be great!

The 'wizard' as you suggest is a good idea. It will be
looked in to.
A Java cell-phone version would be cool, but a formidable
project.
