A number of useful charts uses polar coordinates. For example, radar charts, also called spider diagrams: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar_chart
These charts are often used in management and decision making, because they offer an intuitive view of data.

An image of an example taken from Wikipedia is attached.

    Hi Basilios,
thank you for this feature request. You marked a missing feature.
However big work is behind this task as it covers multivariate data. New data structures for tracepoints had to be found, completely different axes (regarding rendering and computations) had to be introduced. Or: Instead of forcing this extended functionality into an api designed for classical X-Y plots a whole new implementations as a 2nd API within jchart2d could be established.
So: If you need this feature in close time I'd recommend to search for a library that already has this:
http://code.google.com/p/charts4j/ (or http://code.google.com/apis/chart/image/index.html which lies below this), http://approximatrix.com/products/openchart2/ or jfreechart to name some which declare to support this.

    kind regards,
    Achim
