I have over small (approx. 500x500 pixel) 2000 CGMs with that contain both graphics and labels. On some files, the fonts render flattened, and difficult to read. On others, they are perfect. I've done Command dumps and cannot determine a distinguishing difference in the files. All the fonts are the same, the same height, etc. This is true when I display as CGM or convert to PNG and view. I've converted the suspect files with a COTS product and the fonts look normal. Our project would really like to use JCGM if we can figure out this problem.

    Hi Eliot,

The implementation of the text primitives has indeed some limitations. Would it be possible to send a couple of files to illustrate the problem? Ideally one showing the problem and one rendering fine.

That will greatly help identifying the problem.

    Thanks
    Philippe

    Hi Philippe,
Managed to figure out how to upload the files to this thread. My apologies for the spam in the bug tracker. Please delete those if I dont figure out how to do so.
The attached files demonstrate JCGM conversions of .CGM files to .PNG. You can see that TestImage1 fonts do not render well while they do in TestImage2. Another point of interest is that these files both have some sort of imbedded picture (.bmp or .jpeg?) that JCGM cannot render in the converstion.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards
    Eliot

    Hi Eliot,

The font handling is not implemented very nicely and there was code that found change the default font size depending on the image size. I have adapted the code so only adapt if necessary and now the fonts are drawn correctly.

The images are now also rendered correctly.

A new version of the library 0.2.0 is available with the corrections.

    Regards,
    Philippe

    Phillipe,
Thanks for the quick response and patch. The fonts and images are rendering very well now. Most appreciated.
