Fulco, this may help... -----Original Message----- From: Micheal J [mailto:ope...@vi...] Sent: 27 March 2001 10:39 To: Jung , Dr. Christoph Subject: RE: [JBoss-dev] Sourceforge: WinCVS & SSH over Firewall ... anyone? It is related but I can expand on that... SSH LOGIN: To use WinCVS effectively with SSH, I'd advise you to configure your Sourceforge environment to use your RSA keys for automatic "password-less" login. See http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=767&group_id=1 The basic steps are: 1. Generate a key using an SSH key-gen utility. PuTTY is a popular SSH suite for Windows that has a key-gen. 2. Add your *public* key file to the SF servers via the "Edit Keys" feature on your SF account management page. This takes about 6 hours to propagate to all the relevant servers. 3. If you are using the SSH supplied with SFSETUP, copy your public and private key files to: C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\.ssh on your Win2K computer (You will need to create .ssh directory from commandline) 4. Wait for the 6 hours and try to login interactively to cvs.jboss.sourceforge.net using SSH. You should specify your SF username on the commandline. 5. If this login is successful (i.e. no password needed) then you are ready to use WinCVS again. (Note incidentally that the SF cvs server will accept your SSH login and log you out again immediately after telling you it is a restricted shell) CVS COMMANDS: Assuming that you've setup WinCVS 1.2 to use SSH as indicated in the document, you end up with a configuration that will really only allow true SSH access only if you use the Admin->CommandLine feature in WinCVS. Basically, to get the SSH access, you need to use the command line from within WinCVS!!. The only other feature that I have found to work on WinCVS from the menu is the "Create->Checout Module" command. Good luck. I may have more on this later...
