I have a problem that I believe is related to how JBoss AS is deployed on Gentoo Linux, but I'm looking for some confirmation (and insight on how to fix it). Here's how Gentoo installs JBoss AS: 1) Program is in /usr/share/jboss 2) /usr/share/jboss/server is a symlink to /var/lib/jboss 3) Caching seems to happen in /var/cache/jboss/portal/webdav/work/content (so new files created through the GUI are placed there) My system is: Gentoo Linux JBoss AS 4.0.1rc1 Postgresql 7.4.7 Sun Java 1.4.2_07-b05 Here are the problems: 1) The default page is not found. Instead, it gives the 404 error found in the <JBOSS_HOME>/default/data/portal/webdav/store/content/files/errorpages/404.html_1.0 file, so it's obviously finding the other directory in files. 2) There is no work directory created under webdav (it is in the cache area, but there is no store there). 3) New pages entered through the CMSAdmin portlet are not available (they're in the cache directory, but not the in the server's directory) I suspect that if I uninstall JBoss AS from the Gentoo system and install a standard (single directory tree) server installation on the machine, that it would work flawlessly (ok, it's a Beta) but I'd rather be able to allow Gentoo to control the updates.
