This happens when JavaHMO hits a certain mp3 file. I
am not sure which, but I have a few files that seem to
cause this. Debug enabled log files attached.

I have the same problem, It happens to me when I open
certain folders. I am trying to find a correlation for which files
cause the problem, but I have not had much luck yet

I have posted this under a new Bug title as well.

This is all caused by JavaHMO in ability to read ID3v1 tags at
least on Windows 98 and I would suspect others. JavaHMO
can read ID3v2 tags so you need to get a product to copy all
of you ID3v1 tags to ID3v2 and DELETE the ID3v1 portion. If
you fail to delete the ID3v1 it will still cause an error. This
can probably be fixed in other versions of JavaHMO, but in the
short term this is the fastest fix.

To convert the tags you can use any number of programs. I
used TagScanner 4.8 which is freeware download at:

    http://www.download.com/TagScanner/3000-2141-
    10285009.html?tag=lst-0-1

Use the TagProcessor section. Change to ID3v2 version, use
Copy from another TAG. Run through all your files, will
probably need to run for a little while depending on number of
files. Then once it is all finished change to ID3v1 and tell it to
remove tags for all files, much faster.

That is how I did it, I am sure there are other ways.

    Hope this helps

    Kevin
