XP means "mercyless" refactoring.   There are 3 times  to refactor.  We can refactor a little at the end of each iteration.  We can have a regular refactoring iteration. And we can have a refactoring iteration at any time if needed.  The regular refactoring iteration might be say every 4th iteration or whatever.
