I meant Hibernate.. Looks like its part of the J2EE framework, not J2SE.  I don't even have it installed. And it that light I'm not sure we should consider it at this point.  Property files and Xml files should do the trick for configurations.

Yes, java persistance API. New standard api for persistance (they hope).
I took a brief look, and quite honestly, looks quite simple to learn.
