In ancient history, Mac OS9's jdk had a Splash Screen option, that would throw up a gif while the JRE loaded, just to let the user know something was happening. The nice thing about this was the immediate feedback for Swing applications. Would it be possible to do the same for Janel? Perhaps a property could specify a gif or png, if it existed, Janel would throw it up centered on the screen, and take it down when the main class was loaded by the JRE.
Is this even possible? And would others find it useful? The second time users run my apps, they are fast, but the first time? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Dan,
A splash screen would be nice. Let me add this to Janel's to-do list.
