What's Tal Up To?

Here's a basic update to keep everyone from getting bored with the state of things.

I'm currently working on modifying most of the xml loaded classes to use the new nanoxml beta. While this seems like a suicidally crazy thing to do (it's beta!), I think the new one is quite keen, and these modifications will save me work later (hypothetically) when nanoxml 2 goes "gold"

In other news, I've posted a FAQ in the DocManager (https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=4612&group_id=16566). I've also done some mud-unrelated work on the html for the jamud.com pages (less nested tables makes everyone happy. Well, except older versions of netscape)

I think that's about everything for now; godspeed, etc etc

      Still goin'...

current work, for those of you who're getting antsy, is in the jamud.obj package. I've had a bit of a realization, and when I awoke I realized that I needed to simplify. Really Room, Item and Body were not so dissimilar, especially when I got Item to be a container. Thus I've begun the move to "JamudObject"s, and "JamudObjectContainer" which will cut back on the number of interfaces and abstracts, while at the same time adding a more solid base for later things like OLC and State Saving.

Also I've been doing a little work on getting the NNTP plugin working. And JXTA looks neat, maybe I can use it in MetroMudding...

I'll try to keep everyone updated, but this may be a while.

Hello out there in never never land.

I'm still here, working on the obj package. I've got the essential layout of all the MudObject and MudObjectContainer stuff down, and I've begun to convert the little areas I already had to that format. I'm sorry it's been so long since a build, but aside from this being a ridiculously weird undertaking, I've also been having too much Real Life pop up. I thought I had that stuff filtered, grrr.

Anyway, I'm still out there, working on the Way Things Shall Be. I've figured out the revisions to the event model to get them to fit the new object model, and I've even worked in a way so that people can create custom classes and still use them in the MudObject heirarchy.

There should be a build sometime Real Soon Now.

        'til then,
        siege (tal, whatever)
