My company (www.greenhousepc.com) has started working on a re-implementation of the entire library. Because we're a for-profit, we'll probably begin selling JARs sometime in 2Q or 3Q11 to defray our expenses. Which are now rather considerable …

Is there a more recent and/or less bug-riddled version of jamod available? I've spent hundreds of hours making jamod usable and I suspect I'm not alone.

There have been some updates from 2006 at least. Lastest Open Source is the HEAD on SVN.
If you want to help to make it better, feel free to submit bugs and suggested fixes and we'll see how to integrate them, as long as they are in line with the idea of the project.
Also feel free to sell your own derived versions, as long as you remember to comply with the license (liberal BSD, generally means something like giving academical credits by including the original license with your binary distributions).

Dieter

I am still monitoring responding when able though have not used jamod in my work for 5+ years. I only did a small part with the ModbusRTU for use in a greenhouse monitoring system developed in 2004.

What is the status of this project? Are the original developers still engaged?
My guess is "No".

I am still around, so your guess is wrong.
There are various derived packages available for different purposes, so people should still be able to find non-commercial alternatives.

I'll take a look at what's there, though I believe that's what I have already.
And not to worry about the credit - I already drag several other BSD-licensed components into the product.
