I know it's very idiosyncratic, and everyone seems to
think it's very strange on first encounter, but I format
Java expressions with a hybrid of the "spaces around"
setting.
Example:
String id = (( Element) y[ i]).getAttribute( "id");
I haven't yet found a pretty-printer that allows me to do
this style formatting, and I consider it a must-have.
It certainly doesn't seem like it would be terribly difficult
to do. Any chance I might see it in Jalopy?

Just declaring this "closed" with no comments is pretty
cheesy. I made the effort to provide this project with
feedback on how it could be made more valuable (and frankly,
the request is a deal-breaker for me - with out it, I
consider Jalopy unusuable). I think I at least deserve a "we
have decided this is not important enough to fix" or a "we
can't fix this" or whatever - at least /something/ more than
just "closed".

FYI, such white space style is possible with the commercial
Jalopy
