Hi, 2016-01-31 22:31 GMT+01:00 Precious Cantu <pca...@gm...>: > . For example when I download research papers, usually they are named something generic like “fulltext1.pdf” Is there a way to drag&drop this pdf file into Jabref and have Jabref extraction information from the pdfs metadata and rename the file to something like “Author_Year”? Sure. Just drag'n'drop the PDF into JabRef and a dialog appears (see attachment). You can either choose to import XMP metadata (see http://help.jabref.org/en/XMPHelp/) or to import based on contents. That works fine for Springer or IEEE papers and if the first page contains a DOI. Otherwise, it is not that good. We used to have Mr. DLib support (http://mr-dlib.org/), but it was dropped as the future is unclear and we did not have all sources of the interface. We are, however, in close contact with the Docear team and maybe we can came up with some other kind of parsing support. My current workflow is: - Add entry using the DOI (Web Search -> DOI to BibTeX) - Drag'n'drop the PDF into the preview panel of the entry - JabRef then asks to rename the PDF according to the bibtex data This is a good thing for me, therefore, other things have priority ^^ Cheers, Oliver |
