Thank you, Stefano. Following your suggestion, I produce a simple example with only two references. The source window content: Now, it is the position to include reference \cite{Diaz1999}. The second reference is the following: \cite{Diaz2002}. Again, I include \cite{Diaz1999}. \begin{thebibliography}{2} \bibitem{Diaz1999} \bibitem{Diaz2002} \end{thebibliography} The LyX Window content: Now, it is the position to include reference [Diaz1999]. The second reference is the following: [Diaz2002]. Again, I include [Diaz1999]. References Diaz1999 [1] Diaz2002 [2] The compiled .pdf version is: Now, it is the position to include reference [1]. Dolores. Hi Maria, from your description, it seems that LyX (or, rather, the Latex backend of LyX) is not finding the references. Which probably means Latex is not finding the .bib file. Here is what I'd do to troubleshoot the problem: First, to be sure that the problem is with Latex; 1. after you have inserted a reference in Lyx from JabRef, open the source window in Lyx (View>>View Source). A small window will appear at the bottom of the screen, with the Latex source code produced by Lyx. Check that the correct bibkey for your reference appears in your text. If you have inserted, say a paper with key Einstein1909 you should see something like \cite{Einstein2009}. If this is not the case, then there is something wrong in the JabRef/Lyx communication. See whether you can produce a minimal example and post it to the list. 2. If you passed test one, then compile the Lyx file (View>>DVI or View>>Pdf, etc.) and take a look at the compiled file in a viewer. If Latex could not find the references at all, you should see [?] where you would expect to see a ref. If this is the case go to step 3, other wise skip to 4. 3. Open the latex log from within Lyx (Document>>Latex Log) and check what it says. You should see a line or more than one: one per reference) that says "LaTeX Warning: Citation `dummy2000' on page .... undefined on input line ..." If this is the case, then you have found the problem: you did not tell LyX where your bib file is. Follow the instructions in Lyx' user guide, section 6.5 to find out how to use bibtex. If you, instead, use biblatex, follow the instruction on the lyx wiki (http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/Biblatex). Or post again here. 4. If, instead, your dvi (or pdf) file has the correct references in the text, but it is missing the full citations at the end, then the problem is a bit more difficult. I would suggest posting the the complete latex log to get a better answer.
