I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 and Xmonad 0.9.1. Jabref font are pixellated and nasty looking. Jabref is the only java application that seems to do this. I've tried both the GTK and default look and feel. Screenshot attached.
Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the late reply. It looks like the table font is not antialiased. Under Java 6, this should be activated automatically. Earlier JabRef versions had a setting for this, which if I remember correctly was removed because it could conflict with the automatic setting. What Java and JabRef versions are you using?
It could also be worth a try to change the table font, in case the font currently used for some reason doesn't work with antialiasing. (Options -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Set table font)
