Create directory dialog problem
Brought to you by:

Hello. I'm new to J-Ftp but I've found it great and
easy-to-use.
I tried to create a new directory in remote server by
pressing the toolbar button but the name input dialog
didn't appear. What a surprise when I minimized the
window and found the lost dialog.
Thanks and keep good work.

Hello.
Well, it is good to hear that you like this application we
have here, but we are going to have to fix this bug here. I
have found that this also happens when trying to change the
remote directory. This doesn't happen in when trying to do
anything this locally (in the local window that's on the
left by default.) Also, the dialog boxes for creating and
changing directories will not be put in the background if
the local window is selected first, then the option for
creating a directory is clicked shortly after that. But the
button on the remote window must be clicked quickly before
any events that detect the mouse is over the button are
triggered. It's hard to do this with Web Start, I've found,
but on on my personal computer running Windows XP. So this
appears to be an issue with the way the window on the right
for remote connections is set up, so it'll always be in the
foreground when selected. This could possibly be easily
fixed. It has been a while since we have released a new
version. but when the next one comes out, I'm sure we can
have this fixed.
Thanks,
J.K.

Just to update you you on what is happening here, I have
found a way of fixing this bug and I can release a patch for
it shortly. I should point out that it only involves taking
out a few lines of source code, but if you want I can send
the patch here and give instructions for applying it. This
is something I expect to have done at some point in the next
few days, and so you can expect to see this fixed when the
next version is relaeased.
Thanks,
J.K.

Hello.
Well, as you can see here I've attached four files here that
you can download in order to patch this bug. If you follow
the instructions for where to copy each of these files (and
overwrite any files that are already in the directories they
are to be copied to) then recompile using Ant, the bug
should be fixed. I was a little late in getting this out and
so I chose to patch a few other minor bugs, such as one
where directories aren't refreshed after a directory is
created through an FTP connection. Also fixed is a bug where
after renaming a local file, the local directory was not
refreshed.
I'll leave this bug open in case you have any further
questions. I'll also check for any other GUI bugs as there
may be a few others.
Thanks,
J.K.
