#54 empty parens could make empty list

"()" could be a shortcut for "list()", so that
"(),1,2" would return "{{},1,2}" (and "1,(),2" would
return "{1,{},2}" etc.).

Right now empty parens "()" is a segfault that needs to be
fixed.
