When you say "syntax additions are failing", are you referring to
shift-reduce/reduce-reduce conflicts in the grammar?
Those appear in separate report, like a .output file that gives a
human-readable state machine for the grammar automaton and shows where the
conflicts are.
Newer versions of bison let you specify the name of this output with
--report-file=FILE.
