Over the weekend the icarus.com server, a DEC (yes, "DEC", it's that old) alpha, died. No data is lost, but the O/S it was running was quite old, so as I'm putting together the pieces in a new server I'm relearning a lot of stuff. Fortunately, no data is lost. I've kept good backups, and at any rate the disks are unscathed. Although they use BSD partition tables, so there is a little pain getting at them. Yes, they are that old. My alpha was a very stable machine, and I'm sad to see it go:-( Anyhow, it will be a day or two before I'm fully back to life. I only just now got my e-mail servers working again. - -- Steve Williams "The woods are lovely, dark and deep. steve at icarus.com But I have promises to keep, http://www.icarus.com and lines to code before I sleep, http://www.picturel.com And lines to code before I sleep." -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFIX7durPt1Sc2b3ikRAm9YAKCjHBUXXR4yBhvCKoTvOlpLTZQ6ywCfQAIP f+DaSAW5u4ACaw5PNRS/LO4= =YClK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
