    Hi everyone,

I'm seeking some clarification regarding the extension called "Configurator for automatic object creation" and the information provided in the wiki found at this link

Here are a few areas that I think could benefit from additional details:

Installation/Setup/Configuration: The wiki includes an example configuration, but it would be helpful to mention that this extension is not configured by default. It needs to be manually added to the iTop instance's configuration file. I found this confusing because another extension, the "object-copier," is similar and was automatically set up when I installed another extension.

Work Order: It would be great if a separate wiki page could be created to explain Work Orders and their possible uses. The only reference I found was a forum post with an unofficial answer.

Creating and utilizing a work order template: Another forum post mentioned two ways to use the configurator for automatic object creation in relation to work orders. One way is to extend the data model to include a new class specifically for work order templates. Alternatively, you can create work orders with names like "TEMPLATE xxx" and then reference them in the configuration file. It would be extremely helpful to have more specific instructions on how to perform these actions and how to modify the configurator's configuration. Personally, I'm still learning about the data model and building extensions, so the process of utilizing this particular extension feels a bit overwhelming.

I appreciate any guidance or additional information you can provide. I am also willing to help write it if needed once I figure it out myself lol. Thank you!

    Hi Joe,
This particular extension is more a toolkit than an out of the box solution. We have used it internally to build another client restricted extension "Recuring objects". I believe that TeamIP has used it as well for a similar purpose. Maybe a few people on the community, but it's something that requires at least to be very familiar with the User actions configurator extension and have experience on how to write an iTop extension to modify the datamodel...
The rest is knowledge on how to design an efficient datamodel, which you can get from Combodo or one of its partners...
    Regards
    Vincent

Thanks Vincent, framing it as a toolkit makes more sense to me now. I will look into the User actions configurator. Hopefully I can figure this out as it will be super useful to have an easy way to make the more involved tickets that involve multiple team assignments.

I forgot another client restricted extension which does more or less this:
The extension "Catalog of procedures" allows the service manager to document the procedures and instantiate them automatically to the teams in charge. Indeed, for each service Subcategory, a set of procedures that are required to deliver the Service, is defined. Then, work orders are created automatically at the first assignment of the user request. When a work order is closed, all the work orders that were waiting for it, are automatically opened and the teams in charge of them are notified.
