I made promotion for itkSNAP on my recent Japan visit, and they seem to like it very much.
A question about the storing of the resulting surface mesh data: When I run the snake and visualize the result, I get a very smooth surface since this seems to be the marching-cubes solution from the evolving implicit solution. However, when I save the mesh data, it gets back to the blocky voxel structure, as if it is mapped back to a binary voxel grid. First, is this true, and second, could we safe the last mesh solution of the snake before mapping back to binary labels? I think this would be a huge plus, since we would take advantage of the sub-voxel precision of the evolving snake.
Maybe I do not fully see the overall structure of saving the meshes, since you allow for saving meshes from different labels, which seems mesh data generated from the binary label images - so it might be more difficult but just thought I ask.
It seems we can save the mesh as vtk (I get a point cloud without edges), stl (works fine), and byu (my windows version does not store a byu file (I use 214c on Windows, but could test Linux or MAC).
