What would be a very nice tool that could be spun off
the iTeXMac codebase is a standalone PDF viewer (think,
as a drop-in replacement for Preview.app). The killer
feature behind the iTexMac viewer, for me anyway, is
change-detection, but the rest of iTeXMac I really
would rather not use.
Having a standalone viewer would make life great for
those of us who prefer the Emacs/Vi(m) + Makefile route
to LaTeX, and who don't want any external fluff. For
example, one very minor annoyance when loading a pdf in
the iTeXMac(2) viewer for the first time is that it
asks you what project you want to integrate it in. The
standalone viewer would have no such functionality:
instead, you should be able to ask it to open a PDF and
it does so right away.
Thanks for iTeXMac, anyway!
