This patch adds an option to allow for devices to by automatically synced as soon as they are connected. This is set on a per-device basis, default is the current behavior (not to automatically sync). Resolves issue #1783451

first patch had a small bug that caused the autosync setting to revert back to 'false' under some circumstances
