Istarion is a roguelike, single player roleplaying game for Java-enabled
mobile devices such as cellular phones or PDAs.

"Roguelike" means, that it is a game in the tradition of the famous 80s
text mode game "Rogue", whose success defined an entire sub genre of
computer role playing games. Some of today's famous roguelike games are for
example "Nethack", "Angband" or "Dungeon Crawl". In Istarion the player
controls a single character on his/her quest to defeat the evil archmage on
the lowest level of the archmage's dungeon. On his way he will face
dangerous monsters and will have to find his way through twisted
underground mazes and caverns, getting more and more skilled in combat- and
wizardry-skills as he travels deeper into the dungeon. The player has a
top-down view on the dungeon environment. Using the cellular phone's
control buttons, his character walks step by step through the game world,
picks up items, engages in battles, casts wizard spells, quaffs potions or
