Well after much time since the last release this one is long overdue. I apologize for the unusual time gap between releases hopefully with things calming down at my job I can have more gumption to work on iSQL in the evenings. Anyhow lots of good stuff this time, so hopefully it is worth the wait Key Points about this new release are. * iSQL-Viewer is now available via Install-Anywhere for easier install and use. * Support of IBM's BSF Engine to include support for using JPython scripts. * Incorporating the jEdits Syntax Package component for syntax highlighting. * New Bookmark feature to keep common SQL without relying on history buffer. * Better Control over Rendering complex data type such as BLOB and CLOBS. * Better support/behavior for Mac OSX A full list of things improved/changed/added can be found at the following URL http://isql.sourceforge.net/errata_v2_1_1.shtml I do know of some problems with this release particularly with the service manager and saving preferences, as well as other little nuances that hopefully doesn't receive much criticism This version will not be released via Java Web start for various reasons at this time. I am tossing around the idea of actually just dropping the whole web start thing all together with the advent of the install anywhere files. Any comments suggestion on this topic are welcome. I highly recommend using the Install-Anywhere packages as it setups your classpaths with the right XML Libraries and BSF Script Engine with JPython Support with no extra intervention. This hopefully will save me the headache of trying to fix every possible classpath problem that can happen this way. I would also like to take this time for any and all those who voted for me at the JDJ Readers Choice awards, I appreciate the support. --Markus --http://isqlviewer.com |
