I went to the service manager window, selected a service,
and chose the Advanced tab.
I saw a checkbox named "Inherit config from global
preferences". I couldn't find the echo SQL in the global
preferences anywhere. I unselected this checkbox and used
the dropdown list to find the "Echo SQL" setting and manually
enable it.
Where is the setting in the global preferences?

There was a bug on my part, where i wasn't propagating the
defaults properly to the connection from the global
preferences. So even if you do set the property global it
won't get inherited down to the service.
I made a recent CVS commit to remedy this problem so you can
rebuild isql from source if you are inclined. if not let me
know and i can get you a new binary.
As a FYI the global JDBC preferences are underneath the
ServiceManager section of the preferences editor.

If I select Tools->iSQL Preferences I get a window
labeled "iSQL-Viewer :: Preferences >> General". In the left
pane I see:
General
Bookmarks
Console
History
Printing
(2) SQL Workbench
(1) Advanced
(2) Service Manager
Batch
Scripting
International
I've selected each item in the left pane and I don't see any
settings related to echoing SQL statements.
I'm attaching a screenshot of the Service Manager settings,
but I don't see any JDBC settings. I see 4 checkboxes and a
place to add jars to my classpath.

label double-click the service manager item and you will see
the JDBC Options

OK, now things make sense. I was confused because the
General tab was expanded already so I thought it was the
only one with sub-items.
I suggest that you make the tree panel display the default
handles so it is obvious that it is a JTree, or expand all nodes
by default. I didn't know what the integers in parentheses
were.
It is possible to have icons in the tree and the handles
displayed because I use an in-house application that does
things that way.

Yeah i know it has been on my TODO list :) sorry for the
confusion if you do download the latest build from CVS you
will have the JDBC options bugged fixed.

You should be able to enable the echo from the JDBC preferences in your
service or the global preferences.
The JDBC preferences are underneat the service manager item on the
left. Let me know if it helps.
thanks
