In earlier versions of iSphere (4.1.0 or even erlier) the selection dialog for iSphere member compare, when opened via context menu, always populated the right side selection fields with the same values (connection, library, file and member) as the left side fields.
Example:
If you compare source versions in two libraries or on multiple machines a lot, then you only had to change one of the fields - machine or library.
You now have the preferences dialog where you can set the dialog to remember none, some or all of those four fields per side. I would like to see a fifth option for the right side values there: "mirror left side". If selected, the fields for the right side always have the same values as the left side.

Yeah but that does not offer the option I would like to see. I rarely need the last compare again. Instead I want to compare the selected source member to the same source in a different library.
So if you could include an option "mirror ancestor" or "same as ancestor" that would be what I want to select.

Load previous values (right):
Specifieswhether previous values of the right member are loaded when opening the source membercompare dialog. The values selected are preserved. All other values are taken from the Left Member.
This option is useful, when you want to compare members from one source file with the membersof another source file. In that case you would select option Connection, Library, File.
I fixed a bug, that prevented iSphere from carrying over a value of the left member to the right member, in case the right value was empty.
I fixed that and I assume that this fix also solves the problem you have, because now you could select option "None", which would leave the right values empty. But then these empty values would be filled with the values of the left member. So at this point the right member would have the same values as the left member.
You then could change the right library to whatever value you want.

That sounds like what I want. I also had tried 'None' - without reading documentation, though. Shame on me.

That is correct, but there might be a new beta version before the release.

I think this is actually broken now. I loved the way this used to work by default (it populated the Right file values with the Left file values, and I could just change the connection or library to quickly compare the source member with the same name). A few months ago (or so), an update was released, and the Right values were populated with the most recent Right values, which made it significantly more difficult and time consuming to use. Fortunately, I found that changing the Load previous values drop-down to "None" resolved the issue.
Now, with the new update, I'm back to experiencing the same issues. However, now if I select "None" from the drop-down items, I just get completely empty Right values. I can select Connection from the drop-down, and it will now populate the majority of the Right fields with those from the Left, but the Connection is populated with the most recently compared Connection (which I don't want it to do), but as soon as I select None, everything goes blank again.
Compare Members is one of the most useful tools in the iSphere plug-in. Hopefully these settings can be reverted. I'm re-installing the previous version until it is.
As an aside, I also preferred the wording on the right-click context menu which was changed a couple of revisions ago (it used to say iSphere Compare Editor, which made it quicker to find than the current iSphere Source Member Compare Editor, because the new wording often makes me stop and make sure I'm selecting the right one, instead of accidentally selecting iSphere Source File Search. Really, not a big deal, but the old wording was just clearer and more concise, and led to a second or so fewer seconds spent making sure I select the correct option).

I uploaded beta version 5.2.1.b001, which should address the problem with filling the values of the right fields. Please give it a try and let me know what you think.
I had to change the name of the menue option from "iSphere Compare Editor" to "iSphere Source Member Compare Editor", because of the new "iSphere Stream File Compare Editor". Both menu options are available in the "iSphere" menu at the top of the screen. So I think it is not a good idea to go back to the old name. But of course I am open for other suggestions.

Yes, the beta version is working splendidly for the compare editor again. Thank you for that.
Regarding the menu option name, I completely understand the conundrum. I would probably prefer it to be:
iSphere Compare Editor (Source Member)
iSphere Compare Editor (Stream File)
So I can quickly find the iSphere Compare Editor menu options. However, this is just a personal opinion, and only takes me an extra second of carefully reading the menu options, so it's not a big deal. Maybe if I could select a source member and take a keyboard shortcut to open the iSphere Source Member Compare Editor that would help. But for now, how it is will work.
