iSphere Source Compare offers the option to ignore white space, but there is a problem with blank lines.
Ignoring white space generally works, but if you add new lines to a source member, that lines of cours get new date values. Even if you select "ignore date column", those new blank lines are treated as changed.
Other eclipse source compare editors seem to ignore blank lines, if you select "Ignore Whitespace"
**It would be nice if you can have a look at this and do not mark blank lines as changed if the following options are selected:
Please describe the steps how you start the compare editor, because I cannot reproduce the problem. Please also attach a screenshot that shows the problem.
Oh that is interesting. I always see the date column on the left. I reviewed preferences and context menus - is there anything I missed?
Hi Christian,
The screenshots have been taken with RDP 8.0, which is the IDE for developing iSphere. So far I have no idea how to fix that. iSphere uses the Eclipse compare engine and there seems to be a problem with the "org.eclipse.compare.compareFilters" Eclipse extension point and white spaces.
But you may uninstall the "iSphere Compare Filters for RDi 9.5" feature to switch back to the RDP 8.0 behavior. Then iSphere removes the date column from the source (temporary files) before starting the compare editor.
Regards,
Thomas.
