Hi all, I've been working on the driver for some weeks now, and I think it's time for a little status report. I got a lot of usefull code from Uros Bizjak. He is writing an ALSA driver for the EWS64, a card based on the SAM9407. It was very usefull because only minor modifications were nessecary for lot's of stuff. Due to this code, the following things are working: - card init & firmware upload - SAM memory management (difficult stuff, glad I didn't have to do this) - ALSA driver interface (module/proc/...) It also contains some PCM interface routines that aren't finished yet. I modified the generic Maestro1/2/2E to an ISIS driver: - ditched all code regarding non-2E chips - added support for the IDMA port (making it a 2EM driver) - added the SAM as a 'child' device of the maestro - added the mixer controls for SAM playback and monitoring The current driver supports both multimedia and studio firmware. For the less technical people: - The Maestro works as it should (like when using maxiinit & snd-es1968) - firmware can be uploaded (mm or studio) - Most of the Console8/4 stuff works I'll focus mainly on the Studio firmware, because that is ISIS specific. The MM firmware is almost identical to the generic SAM9x07 firmware, so I can use Uros' work for that. Work still to do: - PCM input to & from SAM (difficult) - MIDI input/output & Synth support (not that difficult) - Soundbanks (tough one I suspect) - ... ? - Clean the code & integrate it into ALSA CVS. It will take some time before the driver is ready for release. I might release it before PCM support is finished, so bugs in other parts can be detected. But releasing it requires ALSA CVS integration, and I don't know what the rules for that are. Work in progress, Pieter |

Hi, > Hello to the new list.I have install the maxiinit and it makes a "PIIII" > and freeze my comp, and have to reboot it. > This doesn't surprise me, as the program is a very 'unclean' hack to get the ISIS working. I'm working on a better solution (the ALSA driver). I did find a little bug in maxiinit, that could cause such things to happen. I've put the new version on the sourceforge page. > I have a sb Live! too. I don't have try yet to uninstall sb Live!! and > try the drivers. This could also be the the problem. Let me know if you get it fixed (or if you don't). What hw/sw do you use? Pieter |

Hi all new memebers, I'm Pieter Palmers, the main developer of the isisalsa project. I'm sorry for not responding to the last few messages... apparently there was a problem with the mailing list, resulting in me getting no mails. I hope you like the init stuff I created a few days ago. But more is to come... I've pretty much figured out the ISIS completely, so I'm ready to write a driver to support all ISIS features. I think the first release of this driver will be finished by the end of this week. But don't expect too much: I won't be ready with PCM transfers etc... my first goal is to get the mixer controls up & running (like console8/4 in windows). Implementing this is relatively easy and allows me to figure out how to get the sources compiles. BTW: I've tested the maxiinit with the studio firmware (isis.bin in the windows directory) and this seems to work. But you'll have to wait for the driver to do anything usefull with this. Pieter |

Hello I have tested maxiinit with a Mdk 9.0 , kernel 2.4.19. After initialisation by maxiinit , which reports no problems, I didnt't even have to configure the maestro module by hand, all worked fine with the conf tool of mandrake. PCM output is fine Line in Works as well ( tested with a loop from TV card) Thanks a lot to the developper, I've been wainting for this since two years ( I was just about to give the card away to a friend, pity for him...) |

Hello I have installed maxiinit on a Debian Woody ( kernel 2.4.18), and it works fine , with OSS, (driver maestro). I configure the driver manually, because with programs like sndconfig raise some errors. modprobe maestro maxiinit /path to firmware With this, I have probed to play music with Kde (artsd) and Gnome (Esound) and both works fine. Next days, I will probe to record.
