When cover art has been used for multiple different books, this is often reflected with the variant relationship. The same can be true for cover art used for interior art. This can cause confusion. For example, with Tim White's cover art for "Foundation and Earth", at http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?295281, there are 4 variant titles. Three of them are labeled as "Cover: ...", but the fourth is unlabeled, which can easily lead the viewer into thinking it's also a cover variant. But if you click on that variant, you see covers that are dramatically different than the work you just came from. Which can be confusing. If this variant were recorded as, say "Interior: ...", it would be noticeably clearer. (Says the guy who just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out what was going on.)
