Personally, I feel that automatically doing this creates an inconsistent and potentially confusing interface for the user; but it would be useful functionality. Perhaps an actual 'I Feel Lucky' button next to the Search button might work, which would automatically go to the first hit, regardless of how many results there are. I think most people are sufficiently au fait with Google to understand what 'I Feel Lucky' means in a search context.
