I just got back from the spring RCC meeting. There was a big push to finish up and publish the latest IRIG 106 Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 guides. There *was* going to be a -06 (i.e. 2006) release but now it's been decided that the release will be called IRIG106-07. Expect it out by summer. =20 There haven't been any major shifts in the spec. Some new data types have been added, some wording has been cleaned up, and a couple of new sections have been added to the end. Here are the highlights (as I can remember them)... =20 New data types =20 MIL-STD-1553 Format 2 (0x1A) - This format is used with the rather esoteric F-16 16PP194 bus. Trust me, that's probably all you care to know. =20 Video Data Format 2 (0x42) - ISO 14496 MPEG-4 Part 10 AVC/H.264 =20 Image Data Format 1 (0x49) - Still imagery =20 IEEE-1394 Format 1 (0x59) - IEEE-1394 physical layer =20 Ethernet Data Format 0 (0x68) - Ahhh... Ethernet data. What else can I say... =20 New Sections =20 10.3.11 Recorder Data Streaming - Ethernet is an optional interface but if it's available there are prescribed ways of using it. Data streaming is a new defined feature for Ethernet. Data streaming defines the UDP packet structure for recorders to stream their live data out of the recorder over UDP for external real time use. =20 10.10 Ground Based Recorders - This is an attempt to define features and operations for a ground based recorder that operates more or less like an airborne recorder. Defining this section has been a lot harder than you would think. It's still a work in progress. =20 10.11 Data Interoperability - This section levies some requirements on processes data files. For example, if you trim a data file by time or filter out channels, there is now a requirement to rewrite some TMATS fields in the new data file to document this. There is also a lot of stuff in here about file naming. =20 Chapter 9 =20 There are now a lot of TMATS fields required for Chapter 10 recorders. Chapter 9 now has annotations indicating required fields. =20 Enjoy! =20 Bob -- Bob Baggerman ! bob...@ga...=20 Electronic Systems Laboratory ! 404-407-7109 (office) Georgia Tech Research Institute ! 404-407-9109 (FAX) Atlanta, GA 30332 USA !
