I am running v2.0rc2 with iPod software 22 Feb 05 and
iTunes 4.7.1 on Windows XP Professional x64.

When new podcasts are downloaded they populate iTunes
fine; but cleanup does not remove items from iTunes
library or playlist.

This worked OK before with previous version, beta2.

Also a suggestion to improve cleanup, rather than a
seperate panal for cleanup, have a tick box on the
subscription panel and a trash button with an "Are you
sure?" would make a cleaner solution.

Great work so far though - listening to podcasts is
wasting so much of my day though!!!

Thanks for the bug report. It seems to be working okay on
my WinXP Pro machine. Can you check that both "Delete
library entries" and "Delete files" are checked at the
bottom left of the cleanup window?

Oh, another thing we've run into. If you've just upgraded
iTunes, it may prompt you to reboot. If you forget, like I
did, the iPodder/iTunes link won't work correctly. So
    rebooting might help.

We just realized that one of the buttons on the cleanup tab
is mislabelled. It says "Delete library entries" when it
should say "Select none". This button simply unchecks any
checked files. This is fixed this in the development
version and will be part of the next release.

To delete library entires, make sure the Delete library
entries checkbox is checked, and then use the Delete button.

I have checked all the setting with regard to your feedback
and the problem persists, so I have now carried out the
    following tasks.

I have uninstalled iPodder RC2 and removed the application
files from Program Files (x86)\iPodder, I also removed the
    Application Data\iPodder folder. Then Rebooted.

I then did a "repair" iTunes install, and rebooted at the end.

Next, installed iPodder RC2 and rebooted.

Ran up iPodder RC2 and downloaded the Adam Curry intro and
iPodder Users intro. The playlists were built in iTunes and
    these played OK.

I then selected the items in the cleanup panel, with the
delete library entries and delete files checkboxes ticked.
Files were deleted from the My Received Podcasts
subdirectories but not from iTunes library.

When going to close iTunes I got and warning box (attached
jPG) showing that an application was using the scripting
interface with a countdown. I chose No and left iTunes and
iPodder running for 5 minutes or so but the scripting was
still running when I tried again.

I have also attached the iPodder log file from within iPodder.

On closing iPodder I also got a message indicatin that it
closed with errors so I have also enclosed that file too!

Please not that this is running on Windows XP Pro x64, but
this should not really be a problem as other 32 bit apps run
    fine.

    Thanks

I'm experiencing the identical problem Nigel described.
There are no mislabeled buttons on my iPodder cleanup tab.

    Running
    Windows XP Home
    iTunes 4.7.1.30
    iPodder 2.0

Please advise what other information I can provide to help
    with this matter.

I still have the same problem with the final 2.0 release.

Do you want any further information gathered, e.g. log files?

Sure, go ahead and post the latest log messages.

This one's odd, because if the link to iTunes were completely
failing, new podcasts wouldn't get added and new playlists
wouldn't get created. But from what you're saying, it sounds
as if adding to iTunes is working, it's just cleanup that's failing.

I have just carried out the following:

    Uninstall iPodder 2.0
Delete iPodder configuration files & directory
Cleaned the registry for iPodder entries
    Restart of PC
    Installed iPodder 2.0
I did not restore the "old" config files.
Downloaded the Adam Curry & iPodder Users podcasts
These were added to iTunes successfully
Then I cleaned up the Adam Curry welcome, this was cleaned
up in iPodder and the file deleted from the My Received
Podcasts / Adam Curry iPodder Test Channel
But not deleted from the playlist or library in iTunes
As before when closing iTunes, I get the prompt box
indicating that a script is still running, (I sent a screen
    grab on 2 March)
There was nothing in the iPodder log.

For info I am running, iPod for windows 2005-03-23 and
    iTunes 4.7.1

As you suggest, iPodder is interfacing OK with iTunes to add
new items OK, just the delete action is failing.

I have attached the log from a session earlier this morning
before the above test as it contains some errors.

If you need any further information please let me know as I
am fed up with manually deleting!!

    Thanks

I performed the same series of actions and my log file
revealed the same "Failure trying to set grouping of added
tracks." Not realizing the log file clears itself when
iPodder is closed I lost it and have not been able to
replicate the error in the log file.

I experience the the same scripting error too.

I was able to resolve this issue by changing turning off the
option "Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to the
library" located on the Advanced tab of the preferences screen.

Cleanup deletes songs properly, but playlists must still be
    manually removed.

    Hope this information helps.

    It's been a while but I haven't forgotten! I just committed
a change that might fix this. Send me an email at
aegrumet@alum.mit.edu if you want to try a test build.

I tried the test build and the problem still persists.

I installed and before running up iPodder or iTunes did a
    restart.

As soon as my production release of Windoze x64 arrives I
    will retry with that again.

    Thanks

I have now upgraded to the production release of Windows XP
Pro x64. This was by disk format and new install and
    re-install of applications.

I now running iTunes 4.8 and v2.0.3 of iPodder.

My problem with Cleanup not deleting items from iTunes still
persists with the same symptoms as before.

There is one thing which is slightly odd about my setup, I
have my iTunes Music folder on my D: drive; could this be
the problem? Although as you said before the uploads are
    working OK.

I have now downloaded v2.1 beta 2 - Cleanup is now working!
Files are removed from iTunes library and playlists.

But - the link to iTunes is still kept open even after
iPodder is closed, this is as before, on attempting to close
iTunes I got and warning box (see previously attached JPG)
showing that an application was using the scripting
interface with a countdown. I chose No and left iTunes and
iPodder running for 5 minutes or so but the scripting was
still running when I tried again.

Should I open a new case for this problem or leave this one
    open?

    Thanks

    Nigel
