Hello everyone, I'm using iperf to test multicast performance on our network. I'm a newbie on topic of handling multicasting on the networks. On our network we have a switch that handles multicast filtering (so that it don't broadcast to all ports on the VLAN). Our switch provides automatic filtering support for two multicast systems: * IEEE 802.1p, which uses the GARP Multicast Registration Protocol (GRMP) * IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) My question is, which multicast system is used by iperf when sending its UDP multicast packets? Is it GRMP or IGMP? or another protocol different from those two? I'm asking this so that i can configure my switch with appropriate protocol for multicasting. Right now the switch is just broadcasting multicast traffic to all ports on the appropriate VLAN. Please advice, Thanks, Steven |
