If you do something like: iperf -p 5005 -b 512k -u -c host you'll get a warning message that says: WARNING: option -b implies udp testing WARNING: option -b is not valid for server mode Try reversing the syntax as follows, and things should work: iperf -c host -p 5005 -b 512k -u (I could be completely off, but I've seen this behavior before.)
