[IPCop-user] Timeout waiting for PADO packets on PPPoe connection

I have been using a DLink DI-614+ wireless router to connect to my
Australian Telstra Bigpond ADSL account via an Alcatel Speed Touch Home =
POTS
Network Terminator using Dynamic PPPoE. I have been trying to set up a =
new
IPCop 1.4.1 to do this, but it is unable to connect using the same =
settings
from the DLink router. In the /var/log/connect-errors file the error =
"pppoe:
Timeout waiting for PADO packets" is repeated for each connection =
attempt.

To configure IPCop 1.4.1 I have selected 'Network' -> 'Dialup' and =
supplied
the following:

- Connection Interface: PPPoE

- Idle timeout: 0

- Connect on IPCop restart: Checked

- Connection debugging: Checked

- Reconnection: Persistent

- Dial on Demand for DNS: unchecked

- Maximum retries: 0

- Holdoff time: 30

- Additional PPPoE Settings: PPPoE

- Username/Password: As supplied by ISP

- Method: PAP or CHAP (I have tried with just PAP and CHAP; no =
difference)

- DNS: Automatic=20

What have I done wrong?

It doesn't appear that you've done anything wrong. I used to get that
error alot with my DSL, and I replaced my ethernet card on a hunch,
and the problem has gone away .

Spoke too soon. Just had the same problem, IPCop stuck with that
error. I deactivated that last RealTek and switched to a old 3Com.
Well see how this goes.

Well. It happened with the 3Com as well. So it looks like its a
software problem, unless its something wrong with the computer its
self.

For reference, IPCop is running on a Sony 246mhz P2 w/ ~160 MB of RAM.
