#557 help setting up ipcop rules

hi,
for a project for school we have to setup a linux firewall. i have choosen ipcop. and i have installed the icop firewall on a esxi virtual machine. i was able to setup the network. i have for test enabled dhcp and clients are recieving ip's from the ipcop firewall. all clients also have internet access so that is also okay.
i have trouble understanding on how to set up the rules.
i don't understand the process and how to make it work, i have already tried, but it doens't seem to work.
i have tried to seach the internet but all i find i tutorial for installation, never how to set up the rules.
can some one help ?
