Hi, Sorry for the cross-posts to several groups. Please trim follow-ups. As several people had requested this, I have made a SCIM keymap for Hindi, using the layout followed by the closed- source Baraha system. Please download it from http://oriya.sarovar.org/download/hi-baraha.mim , copy it to /usr/share/m17n, and restart SCIM. It should then show up as "hi-baraha" under the Hindi section. I have no access to Baraha, and the person helping me with this was unclear on various things, so it will likely require some additional input from someone who is familiar with Baraha, and can test this out. I need clarifications on the following: 1. How are consonants typed, e.g., is it typed as "k" + "a" for "ka", or just as "k", or are both allowed? How about "kaa", i.e., "ka" followed by vowel sign a? 2. How are conjuncts typed, e.g., how would one type "kra"? From the description that I was given, I have made "kra" = "k" + "^" + "r", assuming that "^" is used as the halant key. To assist you in testing out the keymap, you may wish to download a list of Hindi conjuncts from http://oriya.sarovar.org/download/conjuncts-hi-words.txt Please note that both the above links are temporary, and liable to disappear in a few days.
