Hi, Wanted to share this, we recently lost Ravishankar Shrivastava (known well as Ravi Ratlami). He passed away on 7th Jan 2024. He was one of the first Hindi bloggers, mentored a couple of generation of Hindi bloggers and writers, to use and write Hindi on computers. Was always available to help anyone facing any issue on using Hindi on computers. It may seem trivial now but back in 90s and 2000s till say 2005 or so, using Indic on computers or online was a task it itself, and needed some learning. Ravi joined IndLinux community in 2003 to contribute translations to GNOME project. Then took up KDE Hindi translation single handedly under Sarai FLOSS fellowship, was active in KDE translation work till about 2010. During this period he mentored many Hindi translators. He never missed participating in Hindi translation workshops or FUEL review meetings. We will always remember his work, and hope his example inspires new contributors. Regards, Karunakar (GNOME, KDE Hindi coordinator). |
