Dear friends at Elx: Thanks for the copies of your CDs, which I am yet to evaluate here, but am intent on understanding why your product has got such good reviews overseas (among the top ten on www.distrowatch.com when last checkec) and is yet so little known in India. I do wish we would do more justice to home-grown efforts. While on this point, you probably know that the IndLinux project has come out with a Hindi version of Gnome. Would it not be possible for Elx to become the first distro in the world to include this officially as part of its CD? You would be doing all of us, and the effort to spread computing across the second-most populous country on the planet. Above all, perhaps it would make good business sense too. FN PS: Please see the Indic Computing network on Sourceforge.net for a whole lot of Indian language computing solutions and attempts. Perhaps we knokw much less than what is happening across India. It's great to see so many different language groups and specialists collaborating with each other... -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frederick Noronha (FN) | http://www.fredericknoronha.net Freelance Journalist | http://www.bytesforall.org http://goalinks.pitas.com | http://joingoanet.shorturl.com http://linuxinindia.pitas.com | http://www.livejournal.com/users/goalinks ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
