What I gather is that all we need is a different set of makefiles for the
different installations. The dependencies - ie sources, documents (*.sgml)
need not be duplicated.
So, the Makefile would contain stuff like
if(debian) then make -f debianmakefile
else ...
etc
and everything else stays the same.
Thus, the specific makefiles are different. At the same time the
dependencies are stored only in one location. A change to a particular
makefile should set the "dirty bit" on for the others - to see if there is
an impact on the others.
Is that what is implied?
