Transliteration certainly can not be the the final and satisfactory solution. I have come across atleast 3 transliteration methods for Indian languages. Many more may be there which I am not aware of and few more may come in future :-( For any method to get accepted widely, there should be consensus in the community. Different people are confortable with different input methods. And this is understandable in a country like India where there are millions of people. And finally, in this englishmen leading world, you can't ignore English totally. English has become an international language and to cope with this competitive world one has to learn English. But truly, it does not (and can not) represent all languages in this world. - Keyur > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Keyur Shroff" <key...@ya...> > To: <ind...@li...> > Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2002 10:30 AM > Subject: Re: [Indic-computing-devel] SMS (was: ISI kolkata developing > indic language software??) > > > > Hi, > > > > --- "Tapan S.
