I am not sure but this was probably for Java on Windows. Couple of weeks ago we searched on the internet for Java Hindi support on Linux. At that time we found that Java supports rendering of Indic scripts on Windows platform only and it was contributed by IBM. The classes were first designed by IBM then handed over to Sun. We also found that Java doesn't support Indic rendering on Linux. We really have to check it out for this latest version of JDK.
